Spanish sculptures steal the show at new exhibit
Spanish sculptors of the 20th century are showing their metal at an exhibition currently being held in the capital.
Titled the Mystery of Alchemists, the display of over 100 steel sculptures reveal the ultimate way of turning base metal into gold - via a poetic voice.
Dominating the exhibition is Julio Gonzalez (1876-1942), regarded as the first artist in Spain to turn away from more pliable metals in favour of steel.
His pieces are predominantly realist, reflecting the desires of daily life but despite being small, they catch the eye with their bold design and painstaking skill.
Giving an abstract view, the work of Andrew Alfaro employs colour and light to express his liberal attitudes to art: an interpretation of the world shared by Miquel Navarro and Martin Chirino.
The exhibition is being sponsored by the Spanish Embassy to mark the country's National Day and runs until 30 November at the Ha Noi Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street.
