26 singers to compete in Morning Star TV contest

Twenty six singers who have been selected from the north, south, central and central highland region qualifying rounds will compete in the final of the Sao Mai (Morning Star) Television Singing Contest to be held in VinPearl Land Resort, Nha Trang in July.

In the central and central highland region, the nine best singers selected from 18 others were chosen for the final round during a competition held on May 26 and 27. Apart from those who came from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City professional art schools, ethnic minority singers brought diversity to contest.

Three singers, including Le Xuan Hao from Quang Tri, Nguyen Trung Nhat from Thua Thien Hue and Le Anh Dung from Thanh Hoa will be representatives from the region competing in the chamber music genre.

Three others will take part in the folk music competition. They include Dinh Thi Thanh Le from Ha Tinh, Nguyen Dang Thuan from Ha Tinh and Le Thi Ha Vi from Thua Thien Hue. Three singers in the light music genre were also chosen. They are Do Thi Ngoc Quyen from Da Nang,Y Garia Enuoi from Dak Lak and Le Thi My Nhu from Phu Yen.

In the south region competition May 27, eight singers were chosen for the final  national round. Competitors in the region, particularly those following the light music genre expressed their fresh style

Two men from Ho Chi Minh City, Le Viet Hoan and Nguyen Duy Thien will compete with others from the north, centre and central highlands in the chamber and classical music finals.

In folk music, Nguyen Duc Quang from Binh Phuoc, Luong Viet Quang from Ho Chi Minh City and Ngo Van Hau from Tra Vinh will be present at the folk music finals .

Singers Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Tien and Hoang Thi Thuy Dung from Ho Chi Minh City and Tran Hoang Nghiep from Can Tho will be representatives of the southern region for the light music section of the final.

Earlier on May 20, nine contestants from the north region were also selected for the final round. They are Nguyen Phuc Tiep from Hanoi, Dang Minh Hai from Ha Tay, Nguyen Hien Anh and Tran Tan Phuong from Ha Nam in the chamber and classical music; Bui Thu Huyen and Tran Thi Thu Ha from Hanoi in the folk music and Pham Ha Linh, Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong and Nguyen Thi Xuan Huong from Quang Ninh in the light music.

The Morning Star National Television Singing Contest is held once every two years by the Vietnam Television with the aim to uncovering potential young music stars.
