Woman named Lan wearing violet blouse
That the character that painter Le Thiet Cuong will introduce to viewers at an exhibition entitled œLan Story at Gallery Thanh Binh, 25-27 Trang Tiet, Hanoi from April 14 to May 14, 2008.
According to the painter, many Vietnamese women are named Lan and he wants to describe a special period of time when everyone was the same in the way they wore their hair, clothes, the way they spoke, laughed, their identity and fate.
At that time, people also shared the same dream, trust and thinking. Le Thiet Cuong grieves over what is past and he wants to describe it in œLan Story.
Besides the woman named Lan (in general), there are men who may be Lan sons, fathers, brothers: ones who are brave and experienced the war.
Artist Le Thiet Cuong was born in 1962 and graduated from the Vietnam State Film College. He has held private exhibitions in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and the US and also gained recognition in Korea.
