The first-ever bus service between Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia’s Siem Reap began Monday.
Operated by Vietnamese transport company Mai Linh, the bus will go through Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, with a one-way ticket costing US$15 in the first month. The fare will go up to $18 later.
Siem Reap is world famous for the Angkor Wat, an ancient Hindu complex built by king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century to act as a temple and capital city.
The bus – a 16-seat Mercedes Sprinter or 30-seat Huyndai County or 45-seat Aero Space, according to the operator – departs at 7:00am daily at both cities.
